Nowadays, many people develop a wide variety of health problems because of inactivity. Doctors recommend regular exercise and walking but many find it hard to spare a few minutes from their tight schedules to get active. This is the main reason why most people do not take a walk everyday. But there is a good alternative to all of this. If you find walking boring, there is a big chance that you wouldn’t look forward to it. But walking can become much easier if you add a bit of fun to it.

Thankfully, there are walking holidays that have become so popular today. Yes, you can have fun while you take walks. Think of the whole thing as a holiday if you don’t feel like doing it. Walking holidays are great and here are a few reasons why they are good for your health:

Cut down excess body fat

A busy lifestyle ends up adding you a few more pounds you may not have the time to lose. A walking holiday is an ideal way to shed the excess fat and stay in shape. You will notice a huge difference after your holiday. You won’t look as flabby as before you left for the holiday.

Be healthy, feel happy

Staying healthy is important for your happiness. As you lose a few pounds of fat and spend more time in the fresh open air, you will get great benefits for your health. Away from the hustle and bustle of city life, you’ll experience the serenity and calm of mountains and open fields on the road to regaining your health once more.

Perfect for diabetics

One of the best ways to manage diabetes is through walking. Walking holidays are perfect getaways for people with diabetes because they can have a good time while they control their diabetes. Diabetes is a worldwide problem and you can avoid it by getting active now.

Release stress

Most of the health problems people experience today are as a result of too much stress, tension as well as anxiety. Modern metropolitan life places such great demands on people, making them suffer various health problems. If you have a lot of stress that has built up inside your system, taking a walking holiday can be the perfect way to release it. When you spend some time in the huge open spaces with friends and family, you’ll be re-energized and rejuvenated.

The above are just a few reasons why walking holidays are healthy. Take your family and friends with you to these holidays and have the time of your life while avoiding future appointments with the doctor.

Walking Holiday Ireland is a website which allows walkers organise their accommodation and travel schedules for walking trips in the North east of Ireland in advance.

With so many types of holidays available, it becomes an extremely difficult task to select one type of vacation. If you are looking for a holiday that offers thrill, excitement, adventure and health benefits at the same time, a walking holiday is the ideal choice for you. The uniqueness and individuality of walking holidays give them a class of their own.

Walking holidays deliver a promising number of benefits that give these types of holidays a solid reputation among travelers. As a result, many people are looking for reasons why walking holidays are different and unusual. Firstly, holidays that involve a significant amount of walking are a great way of enhancing your fitness and physique. Walking will burn out the unnecessary fat from your body and maintain your health effectively. As a result, many older people tend to benefit from these types of holidays.

A walking holiday is also a great way to explore the gift of nature. Whether you are moving through countryside or stumbling over rocky surfaces, you have a chance to explore and discover many hidden secrets that nature has to offer. People traveling by cars, on the other hand, are limited to seeing these marvels from distance. Frankly, there is nothing better than strolling along the bank of a river and or rambling through beautiful sceneries. With a walking trip on your schedule, you have a chance to combine the delights of food, culture and landscape at a very budget-friendly cost and implant a truly unique experience into your memory.

Holidays are a great way of reliving tension and stress. You can relax and enjoy life at your leisure during a well-planned vacation. Walking holidays are highly popular among vacation aficionados due to their infinite benefits. A walking holiday, in addition to offering solid health benefits, also gives you a chance to uncover and appreciate the most amazing aspects of nature.

WALKING HOLIDAY IRELAND Launches website to help Dutch Walking Tourist Discover New Historic Treasures In The North-east Of Ireland

Cliff and Louise Wayenberg have recently launched www.walkingholidayireland.ie to provide self guided and guided walking holidays to tourists visiting the Cooley and Mourne Mountains. As outdoors enthusiasts they were both amazed that this region was overlooked by all but knowledgable Irish hillwalkers.
Walking Holiday Ireland currently provide a number of packages from €159.- that include accommodation, transfers and self guided hill walks with varying lengths and degrees of difficulty.
Cliff Wayenberg is a Dutchman who has lived in Ireland for the past 17 years and together with his wife Louise and their children have settled in Blackrock, a small village on the coast just south of Dundalk. Cliff has a background in customer care and has worked for a number of key multi-nationals. Louise has a background in healthcare management.
Based in County Louth, also known as ‘The Land of Legends’. This is a County steeped in myth, legend and history, going back to the pre-historical days of the Táin Bó Cúailnge (Cooley Cattle Raid) and Cú Chulainn. Later it saw the influence of the Vikings as seen in the name of Carlingford Lough and the recently discovered lost Viking longphort of Linn Duachaill, Anngassan. There are a number of historic sites in the county, including religious sites at Monasterboice and Mellifont Abbey. They are also just a short drive from the Boyne valley which has the ‘Battle of the Boyne’ visitors centre and museum as well as the Newgrange Mesolithic monument. This rich historic and Mythological backdrop to a fantastic hillwalking region has allowed them to create a unique product compared to the rest of Ireland which has a well established and recognised hill-walking market.
Using their knowledge of the dutch market and Cliff’s ability to speak the language the initial focus is on the Dutch and Belgian hill walkers that have yet to discover the hill walking region of Louth, south Armagh and County Down.

Hundreds of people gathered this morning at Newgrange in Co Meath to mark the mid-winter solstice.

On the days around the solstice, between 19 and 23 December, the light from the rising sun lights up the inner chamber at Newgrange, as it did when the passage tomb was created around 3,200 BC.

The solstice officially falls on 22 December this year – when the northern hemisphere is at its maximum tilt from the Sun – but the 21st is the day when people are gathering at ancient monuments around Europe to mark the occasion.

The passage tomb at Newgrange is where most people gathered in Ireland, while Stonehenge was the site of most interest in England.
RTÉ.ie streamed the event live from inside and outside Newgrange as dawn broke, however cloud cover meant the Sun’s rays did not illuminate the chamber.

Several hundred people were at the site, although only those picked in a draw or dignitaries got into the chamber.
